Allianz Egypt Signs Exclusive Sponsorship Agreement with Egyptian Basketball Federation and National Basketball Teams

Cairo - 7 June 2023: Allianz Egypt, the leading insurance company, signed a sponsorship agreement with the Egyptian Basket Federation (EBF) to become the official and exclusive insurance partner of the EBF and the National Basketball Team at all formal and friendly games for all age groups.

The agreement comes as part of the significant role Allianz Egypt plays in supporting sports and athletes in the country.

The signing ceremony was held in the presence of Allianz Egypt Chairman and CEO Ayman Hegazy, the company’s Chief Marketing Management Officer Mina Abdel-Shahid, EBF’s Chairman Dr Magdy Abou Frekha, EBF’s board members and the coaching staff of the Egyptian National Basketball team.

The ceremony was also attended by a number of Allianz Olympian and Paralympian brand ambassadors as well as several Allianz Egypt employees, clients and social media followers.

“Allianz Egypt has always been keen on supporting and sponsoring promising athletic talents and sports by entering into partnership agreements with prominent sports institutions and pioneers in Egypt due to the company’s belief in the role sports plays in creating a sustainable, healthy community,” Abdel-Shahid stated.

“The company provides promising athletes the necessary financial and moral support to create a new generation of contestants capable of competing in local and international contests,” he added.

Abdel-Shahid further expressed how the company takes pride in sponsoring the federation and the national team, “especially after the development the Egyptian basketball has been witnessing lately.”

“We are sponsoring the champions of the national team ahead of their participation in the FIBA Basketball World Cup due to be held this year in Philippe, wishing they will qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games,” he added.

The sponsorship agreement was signed concurrently with the launch of the second round of Allianz Athlete Experience the focuses this year on basketball.

“This competition is the first of its kind in the private sector that aims to offer a distinctive experience, whether to the fans of different sports or the players. The winners of the second round will be declared and offered the opportunity to travel to Philippe to support the National Basketball Team accompanied by the company’s clients and social media followers,” Mr Abdel-Shahid said.

On his part, Dr Abou Frekha stated: “Sports have always required sponsors to ensure its progress. We thank Allianz Egypt for sponsoring the federation and the national team besides the company’s upcoming support throughout international events.”

“Allianz Egypt is characterized by its interest in sports and the backing of athletic talents. Such factors will be reflected positively on the standards of our players and contribute to the development and quality of sport in the country, creating new a fan base of the basketball among the younger generations,” Dr Frekha added.

Allianz Egypt’s sponsorship of the EBF and the National Basketball Team highlights the company’s strategy of supporting sports in Egypt and the world as a whole. By doing so, the company carries on with its efforts of boosting social awareness toward spots, which go in line with the state’s endeavors represented by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of qualifying eminent athletic gifts.
